Barry Jackson has appeared in almost every episode of Midsomer Murders from the pilot, 'The Killings at Badger's Drift' to 'The Oblong Murders', the only exceptions being 'Strangler's Wood', 'Dead Man's 11', 'Death of a Stranger' and 'Judgement Day' where Toby Jones temporarily took up the mantel as Midsomer's unfortunate pathologist. A new face will join the series from 'The Sleeper under the Hill' onwards and we wish her well but it will certainly be sad to no longer see Barry appearing whenever another darstardly deed occurs.
Born in Birmingham in 1938, Barry Jackson also acted as a fight arranger under the stage name Jack Barry. His acting career has spanned a period of over 40 years, with appearances in a plethoria of TV programmes, some of which are listed below. Barry has cited his role in the Yorkshire TV production, 'Horace' as being one of his favourites. More details about this series can be found Here.
Barry's many other TV appearances include Adam Adamant, Doomwatch, Softly, Softly, Poldark, Blake's 7, The Professionals, All Creatures Great and Small, Lovejoy, Into the Labyrinth, Bergerac, Casualty, A Touch of Frost, Heartbeat. However, he has also appeared in Doctor Who 3 times. First as the mute assassin Ascaris from The Romans who is tasked with killing the Doctor. Secondly as Jeff Garvey in Mission to the Unknown, he didn't get to say many words in this story though as he was shot down and transformed into a Varga plant! His last role was as the Doctor's Timelord academy companion Drax in The Armageddon Factor.
