About 60 celebrities, including North East actor Daniel Casey, are expected to tackle the 13 mile course. Best known as Sgt Troy in Midsomer Murders, Daniel is a huge fan of the world's biggest half marathon."I remember Brendan Foster announcing the first Great North Run," he said."It's always been a massive occasion, and I've wanted to take part since I was about 14."Teesside-born Daniel, who runs about 15 miles a week, took part in the race for the first time last year when he crossed the finishing line with a time of one hour and 49 minutes. "It was unbelieveable - just fantastic," he added. "The crowds were cheering us all the way which really makes a difference, especially when you get to about 10 or 11 miles where it really starts to hurt. "There's also a lot of support among the team, who usually get together a few times to train."
