LANCE
AUDEN(RAMON TIKARAM)
Lance was once
a precociously gifted sculptor whose fading talents have never been
able to match his early promise. Back in the stunning village of
Angel's Rise he is set to unveil his latest commission. A new and
exciting sculpture for local gentry and art lover Brandon Monkford.
BRANDON
MONKFORD(DAVID GANT)
BRANDON lives
in the village's stately home and owns the surrounding land. He's
married to Alexandra and has a son and daughter, Fabian and Rachel.
He is a pig headed man who has no back-down in him. BRANDON is
creating an artistic Sculpture Park in the woods he owns and has
upset half the village by doing so. He has made a lot of enemies.
ALEXANDRA
MONKFORD(CHERIE LUNGHI)
Alexandra is
Brandon's wife. She is a passionate and resourceful woman who has
tried to stop her husband throwing everything at the Sculpture Park.
She is involved in a long-standing affair with DANIEL, and she
will fight tooth and nail for what she believes is rightfully hers.
RACHEL
MONKFORD(CARA HORGAN)
Rachel is
strong willed and seemingly ready to carve her own path through life.
She runs the local Outward Bound Centre with her fiancé
Killion and has fallen out with her father as a result. She believes
her future lies with her fiancé and has no problem with
breaking free of her father.
FABIAN
MONKFORD(JOLYON COY)
Fabian is a
self-assured son of the family who believes the estate is his
eventual birthright. He also has a troubled relationship with his
father and has a strong affinity with the family's faithful
groundsman, Tony. He believes his father is making a big mistake by
pitting the family against the village community.
CLEMMY
STAPLES(CAT SIMMONS)
Clemmy runs
the village cafe with BRIN. She has a romantic nature which belies
her prosaic existence. She does her best to make the most of her
life, but there's only so long she can paper over the cracks in her
relationship. Several years ago Clemmy left Brin for Lance, only to
come back to him when that relationship failed.
BRIN
DUNNE(JOHN HOLLINGWORTH)
Brin is a
simmering giant. He fervently opposes Brandon's development of the
village's stunning woods, and has launched a local campaign to stop
it. The vitriol he feels against Brandon's plans is matched only by
his hatred of Lance, who he believes took CLEMMY from him.
DANIEL
FARGO(DAVID BAMBER)
Daniel is an
outspoken art critic who catapulted Lance into the artistic
stratosphere by awarding him a Royal College Prize some twenty years
ago. Daniel has advised Brandon in the creation of the Sculpture
Park, but has been secretly buying Lance's work at knock down prices.
Daniel does many things in secret, including his affair with Alexandra.
TONY
PITT(ADRIAN SCARBOROUGH)
Tony's a salt
of the earth good man with simple tastes and a simple outlook on
life. A Mr Fix-It with a true gift for gardening he is an
invaluable keeper of Brandon's grounds. Tony is loyal towards Brandon
but fears that the woods and land will be forever ruined. His
convictions can often prove exasperating for his family.
SUMMER
PITT(SASKIA REEVES)
Summer is
Tony's wife, a once gregarious individual now faded like a sari in
the sun, contenting herself with life as the Monkford's housekeeper.
It's a life she lives in numb acceptance and if TONY is happy with
his lot then so is she. But in her quiet moments she reflects on a
life that could have been had her career as an artist taken off.
HELENA
PITT(CHARLOTTE BEAUMONT)
Helena is
Summer and Tony's daughter. She is as beautiful as her mother and
loves the outdoors as much as her father does. She has been working
at Killion's Outward Bound Centre for a few years now and is great
friends with Rachel. She's subversive and unruly, and doesn't follow
the rules.
KILLION
STAPLES(MICHAEL WILDMAN)
Killion is the
owner of the Outward Bound Centre, and Rachel's fiancé.
Manipulative and scheming, his world was turned upside down when he
learned Brandon's plans to develop the Sculpture Park would threaten
his own carefully laid schemes.
SIMEON
ROWLING(DENIS LILL)
Simeon is a
self-esteemed village artist who has never become famous for his
paintings of the gorgeous landscapes of the village woods and plant
life. An egotistical lifelong bachelor he runs a musty arts and
crafts shop that no one ever visits, but behind it lies a bitterness
at those who have left him on the margins of life.
