SINS OF COMMISSION
DCI Barnaby and Sgt Scott certainly have their work cut out for them. With no strong suspects and very few leads, they immerse themselves in literary circles. Many would-be writers and established authors from around Midsomer have gathered to take part in the festival. But who would want to see Rackham dead?
Rackham's autopsy reveals that the murderer must have had some sort of martial arts training. Suspects start to emerge. Investigations turn to ex-SAS recruit and now budding writer, John Denton. Barnaby is particularly concerned - his daughter, Cully has just started dating him.
But when Rackham's secret lover Neville Williams is also murdered, Barnaby and Scott realise that there must be more to Rackham's story than they have been lead to believe. Williams was also working as an editor for Rackham's publisher, Sam Callaghan. They learn that Rackman blamed Callaghan for the failure of his second book and wasn't keen to re-sign with him. But is the bad blood between them motive enough for murder?
While the hunt for the killer continues, Barnaby and Scott uncover a hotbed of corruption, sexual scandal and financial mismanagement.
